About the Club

Who runs The Business Funding Club, who publishes it, and how every page is written, checked and approved.

The Business Funding Club is a property of Digital Solomon, a small company in Gastonia, North Carolina. It exists because the businesses we wanted to help were not in trouble. They were in front of their cash: the work was won or done, and the money for it came later than the costs of doing it.

We are a referral club, not a lender and not a broker. We refer businesses that want capital to ROK Financial. ROK and the lenders it matches you with review every request and make every funding decision. ROK pays us when a business we refer is funded. You never pay us.

Marcus L. Barber is the publisher of The Business Funding Club and the founder of Digital Solomon, a small company in Gastonia, North Carolina that builds and runs customer acquisition systems for small businesses. He reads and approves every page on this site before it is published.

He has worked in digital marketing since 2015, starting with his own small-business consultancy, Savvy Solutions (2015 to 2018). He then ran paid search, social and programmatic campaigns for small and mid-size businesses at Comporium Media Services, Townsquare Ignite and AdCellerant (2018 to 2022), led paid media at Dental Implant Machine (2023 to 2025), and led programmatic media at Renuity, a home-improvement company (2025 to 2026). Along the way he built a lead generation system for wholesale real estate (2022) and a direct response funnel and follow-up system for small business lending (2023), the forerunner of this Club.

Before that he spent a decade in sales (2007 to 2017): as a former licensed P&C producer (2010–2012), as an account executive negotiating office technology contracts with purchasing managers at mid-size companies, and as a sales manager coaching more than 200 consultants.

He holds a Bachelor of Science in Global Business and Public Policy from the University of Maryland University College (now University of Maryland Global Campus, 2014), with coursework in business finance, accounting, federal contracting and entrepreneurial venture planning.
